Code of Conduct - Rules you should read   02/25/2017

      In General
Be respectful! There's another person on the other end of that conversation! The forums are a place to discuss anything related to Overwolf and beyond but want this to be a place where people feel comfortable to participate and have fun! Keep it on topic, keep it constructive - Threads should be constructive and have a clear topic. Replies to that topic should be relevant. Bumping a thread without adding relevant information is not considered constructive. Bumping a thread from a long time ago is also not constructive (Overwolf updates every 2 weeks, things change). Attacks or Accusations are not acceptable - Attacking another person is unacceptable, the circumstances are irrelevant, just don't do it. Read the topic - Know what people are talking about in the thread. Stick to the given topic and don't derail it. Search - We have a great search function, use it before you post a new thread as it's possible someone has asked your question before and there's info on it. Don't see something about your question or topic after searching? Post it! (keep in mind that bumping threads from a long time ago is not recommended, post your own). Don't post about locked or deleted topics; they were deleted for a reason. No petitions, demands or "When will.." We have places for asking for games, features and we will tell you when something is coming. We don't give dates for a reason. Don't try getting around the swear filter, it's not cute or funny. This is not a place to break NDA's, talk about something illegal or break any law from any country. We will contact the necessary parties involved and you will be pursued to the extent of the law. No spam. You will be banned and your post deleted. Please write in English. This is an international forum and we'd like everyone to be able to participate.
Bad Behavior Insults, racial slurs, profanity, vulgarity. Trolling - You know who you are, and we will find you. Nudity, porn or anything obscene. Flaming - We don't have a trained fireman on staff, so don't do it. No advertising - No one wants to buy that shirt off of you, or that WoW gold. No insulting any religion (fake, real, or imagined), sexual orientation, gender or culture. No talking about drugs or performing illegal activities. Impersonation - Don't do it, people find out and you end up looking stupid.
What will we do if you break a rule? Warnings - You get only one. Thread/Post deletion - We delete your thread/post from the forums. Suspension - Temporary forum ban. Account termination - Permanent forum ban. Legal action or report violations to the appropriate legal authorities.

  1. As a developer, I want to streamline the app creation process and am considering writing an Overwolf App Development integration to a popular IDE. And since there are many widely-used IDEs for web app development, I decided to find out what you guys use the most, to narrow down my options. (the final decision will be made noting the IDE's own exstensibility options). your cooperation is greatly appreciated
  2. to be completely honest I used vanilla sublime up until now, but IDEs make the process easier and faster.
  3. @christianinaus I actually don't have anything to add to what @Colorfulstan wrote, but I'll be glad to share what I sent to OW for my app. although it is not a LOL app, I think it covers the overview of what needs to be sent. just private message me and I'll share with you the presentation and mockups.
  4. Make an application as an overlay

as for the teamspeak app, I suspect they used a plugin for their backend and just used the same UI schemes for the app itself, so it looked the same. since most of the events and updates happen on the server anyway. so they didn't just "convert" it somehow from a desktop app to an OW app. but an OW developer can shed more light on the subject.
  5. Make an application as an overlay

Hi @unconvincible and welcome in short- there is no simple way to "convert" proper Desktop apps to OW apps, and I don't see an added benefit for connecting them with Overwolf. although for some apps the process might be easier than others (open source, have an API for data extraction) so it heavily depends on the case . Mumble-Link uses an existing infrastructure specific for mumble... links. As for a generalized solution, well... there is a simple but very ineffective solution to making any application run as an overlay. simply download always-on-top , extract and run it, then just select a window you'd like to stay on-top (as an overlay) and click ctrl+space. NOTE: It won't get in of front full-screen applications, so you'd have to have the game on a "borderless window" or "windowed" setting How it works: this app was written using a Windows automation software called AutoHotKey, it takes the currently selected window (the one that is focused) and makes it a "topmost" window - meaning it will get in front of everything except for full-screen applications. (well, if you want to display content over full-screen windows with DirectX content, you'd have to dabble in the "dark" arts of d3d hooking and code injection, which even with supporting libraries, is not recommeded for time concerns and your own sanity).
  6. Request: A decent Notepad

also, if anyone is interested, I extended the simple-IO plugin by a bit. Added directory creation and expanded the amount of directories you are allowed to write to(in a relatively secure manner). The repo for my plugin can be found here Simple-IO-Plugin-Directory-Freedom (github link)
  7. Request: A decent Notepad

adding to the selection of available notepad apps, my app WolfPad (link) is out! it allows you to save your notes as .txt files saved to your "My Documents/WolfPad" folder. you can use the "Save As PlainText" menu option (alt+shift+s) to ditch the formatting used to format the notes if you only need the text.
  8. Requesting new 3rd party Web API

Hi Scooter! and welcome to the community The listed APIs are just suggestions from the Overwolf team to make you excited about the possibilities of creating an app for Overwolf, these are all 3rd-party APIs and are not implemented in Overwolf's platform. good luck
  9. Request: A decent Notepad

lol, are we three working on the same thing? sure you don't wanna join forces or something?
  10. Releasing this repo i've worked on for a bit, It allows you to read/write to 32 and 64 bit process' memory(note Overwolf is a 32 bit app). I invite you tinker with the provided sample. Currently working on a parser for ArtMoney and CheatEngine tables so you'll be able to write "trainers" using JS and run as an Overwolf app! https://github.com/Noobay/MemWolf
  11. I don't think they'd stop it from working (as it is part of the system they are using to run overwolf), but I will give it a look. Thanks for the heads up!
  12. Request: A decent Notepad

aaaand i've got it working. PM me for an unpacked version I found a bug when resizing + dragging, so I'll hold on publicly releasing the unpacked version until I figure it out.
  13. I did see the new one. but(afaik) Overwolf relies on webkit which - in turn(correct me if I'm wrong) - will always support NPRuntime. I think that thing they did is just to simplify matters.
  14. Request: A decent Notepad

I can always hack a custom one
  15. Request: A decent Notepad

I meant the Browser toolbar, so it now looks like this
  16. Request: A decent Notepad

took the liberty of removing the toolbar and adding buttons for resizing and exiting. You can drag the window around by clicking and dragging anywhere (except for the text area). Modified Oeditor
  17. Request: A decent Notepad

@goodbyte neato! tinyMCE is LGPL so you can pack it if you wanted to (just need to provide the base tinyMCE files and credit).
  18. Request: A decent Notepad

Thinking about taking on that task, and if anyone else wants to join, let me know! can you link the notepad app you mentioned so I can see what the current standard is?
  19. hi! I've been running into some problems with the old NPAPI git repo, and I need it since I'm using some old code I wrote a few years back. the sample is running sort-of-fine, sometimes it does and other times it doesn't (requires a restart of overwolf, or a navigator.plugins.refresh(), not very consistent- but once it's loaded, it's loaded for the rest of the app's lifespan, including overwolf restarts). the DLL from the sample is running fine on other projects also. but when I compile a DLL on my own (even when i recompile the sample projects' dll), nothing happens, and it returns that "echo" is not a recognized function (i.e. plugin is not loaded) The old code is supposed to work since we're making an XPCOM component and awesomium(the UI backend) still supports these(afaik). what might be the problem? might it be the version of my xulrunner-sdk(which is 41.0.2) ? anything else i might need to be aware of using the "deprecated" sample as a skeleton? Compilation is done using MSVS2010 with Gecko 3.6.28 under windows 10 64bit .
  20. NPAPI "deprecated" sample

yep, it was the Gecko version after all
  21. I'm trying to run the sampe plugin from https://github.com/overwolf/overwolf-sample-plugin and I keep getting Uncaught Error: invalid params passed to function when calling echo plugin().echo("Hello Overwolf", function(data) { var obj = document.createElement("div"); obj.innerText = 'Echo response: ' + data; document.querySelector('#messages').appendChild(obj); }); the sampleParameter is returning 42 as expected (tested with the console) what might be the problem? C++ - if (argCount < 2 || !NPVARIANT_IS_STRING(args[0]) || !NPVARIANT_IS_OBJECT(args[1])) { NPN_SetException(this, "invalid params passed to function"); return true; } practically saying that it either doesn't recognize the parameters i pass it as a string(NPVARIANT STRING) and a function(NPVARIANT OBJECT), or that I send too many arguments (not likely)
  22. Overwolf Sample Plugin not working.

lol OK, was looking at the Anti-exploit policy instead of the ToS when I first started >< seems like this project is going down. still wondering how I'd be able to use the code base for something else though
  23. Overwolf Sample Plugin not working.

if anyone is interested, here is my project page https://github.com/Noobay/GW2_AutoLooter I would very much like feedback (as I am posting this, the index.html file isn't worked on at all, and it is the same as the default from the sample app, i purely used the console for testing up until now). also, I really hope what I'm doing is legitimate and if not, please correct me now before I do something silly. [pushing a huge update atm]
  24. Overwolf Sample Plugin not working.

since adding navigator.plugins.refresh(true) to the page, sets it on a 'refresh' rampage(it instantly refreshes every time it finishes refreshing) I would not suggest doing it at the moment.
  25. Overwolf Sample Plugin not working.

i used it in the console, not as part of the code itself, and so it worked for my purpose
